<image:caption>Blakey Fahning is a 16 year old student at East Davidson High School in Thomasville. As a member of East's swim team, she is anything but a newcomer to the aquatic sport. Participating on various teams over the years, including the Colonial-Trindale Waterdawgs and High Point Swim Club, Fahning has been competitively swimming since the age of four. Fahning's parents met through their involvement in swimming, making the ability to swim run in her blood. During the summer of 2015, Fahning chose to use her experience and her passion for swimming as part of her project to obtain the Girl Scout Gold Award by providing free swim lessons to children, ages 4-14, at the City of Thomasville Memorial Park Pool. Fahning wanted to help teach children how to swim properly and be safe around water. Over the ten days that the camp took place, over 120 kids participated. As of right now, swimming is more of a hobby for Fahning, but she hopes to help coach the Colonial-Trindale Waterdawgs over the summer of 2016.</image:caption>

She didnÕt have a tibia in one leg and only half a tibia in the other. So at 15-months-old her parents, Sabrina and Jason Williams, had to make the decision Ñ amputate her legs up to her thighs or save her legs and have her spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.</image:caption>

This might be their last year of traveling as "it's getting very hard," because "that's about all we do - is work," Rick said.</image:caption>
